She smiled at his excitability. Hopefully he would have plenty of time to perform with the puppets. "Shiba's last battle is a good one. I am sure that a few here might appreciate that. And any imperial puppets?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

I look of frustration crossed his face but only for a moment. "Sadly no, not yet. I want to make puppets so I can tell the tale of the birth of the empire but with how poor these have turned out I decided that it would be disrespectful to do so until I am better at crafting them or find someone who can make some worthy of figures like Miya and Seppun and of course glorious Hantei the First. I hope my not including them yet does not offend you."

[Miya Akari]

"Not at all, Kenzo-san. That is perfectly reasonable," she replied with a warm smile. "Well, I'm not certain we'll run into many puppet makers here on the island, so it's either up to you or we'll have to wait to see such puppets as those. And what about other hobbies? Do you have any other passions other than puppet theater?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Certainly, I am very keen on hunting which is probably why I am a scout. I enjoy watching kabuki, plays with a lot of mystery and I have been known to participate in the occasional draw-lot play. As you likely surmised I enjoy swimming." He held up his hands as if apologizing and surrendering for what he was about to say. "I like helping people. I know it sounds cheesy or like a copout but I am a sucker for a heimin in need or a guard who needs to take a break." He put his hands down. "How about you, what drives you outside of duty?"

[Miya Akari]

"Tea, sake, and pretty much anything one can do with companions. Being with other people tends to make me happiest," he explains. "Even if it's doing things that I don't particularly want to enjoy doing. As long as the company is good then I'm good."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

The vagueness of the answer made him curious. "So what are some things you don't particularly want to enjoy doing?"

[Miya Akari]

"I'm not a fan of writing reports, digging ditches or scrubbing floors. But they're not so bad with someone to share the work with," she says with a breathy chuckle. "I find I like the company more if they enjoy the activity. Game of go with a Lion makes for a happier Lion and a better companion. Riding with a Unicorn makes for a happier unicorn... so on and so forth."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well I have certainly dug enough ditches to agree with you there." he chuckled. "I can't remember the last time I wrote a formal report though. Hopefully you don't have to do much of that here though if you ever need an extra pair of hands I would be happy to help you. Good company is certainly a boon though, were it not for your welcome company now i would probably just be lying on my futon waiting for my legs to settle down."

[Miya Akari]

"Never do that," she chides. "The rooms are great for storing things and sleeping, but if you want to just relax and lie down, there are much prettier surroundings here for that. Beach, cove, docks, even the grass outside the inn. It will rain, and when it does you'll miss Lady Sun and Lord Moon. May as well enjoy them when they are out."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Indeed, I think I will go down to the beach this afternoon and get some sun. I know people warm against it but I think a little color well help me blend in better when we get to the forest and we Daidoji tend to tan pretty well." he said with a slight smirk.

[Miya Akari]

"It will happen, we will all turn colors," she said with a chuckle. "The trick is avoiding red."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Indeed, hopefully we don't all look like cooked crabs in a weeks time." he looked bemused. "So you say the sake here is just decent? So how bad is it really then?"

[Miya Akari]

"Do you like water?" she replied.

"It doesn't taste terrible at least, but then it doesn't taste like much."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"That...is a shame. How often to ships make the trip back forth with the mainland?"

[Miya Akari]

"I believe the next one is not for two weeks. And it's hit or miss if anything you might order will make it with the nex ship after or if you have to wait for the ship you requested from to return."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well it's worth a shot at least, if enough people write home asking for better booze we may actually get some."

[Miya Akari]

She smirked at that. "I think it might be better to see if we might be able to produce something from local vegetation, no? Perhaps fruit based not unlike plum wine."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Does anyone here know how to do that? If so then I have one more reason to dive into the bush."

[Miya Akari]

"I don't know. Perhaps? If they do then it's not common or public knowledge. But yes, there are fruits that grow here readily and plentifully."

"I have no doubt about your expertise and confidence. With that. I can likely help out a bit, but we will need to be careful of the local wildlife. Snakes and spiders can be venomous."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Certainly, I hate trailblazing in armor but I will likely do just that our first few times out just to be safe." He leaned back looking a bit uncomfortable then turned towards the Inn keeper. "Yogiyo, can I get something to eat after all please? Whatever you have on hand is fine." He turned back to the Miya. "Would you like anything while he's at it?"
