Day 1 Event (EM): Welcome to the Island

[Koumori]

Miya Hiruka and Moto Mura stood upright on the docks as the last, for the next two weeks, Crane ship supplied the island and expedition with more samurai and supplies had arrived. The captain of the ship brought the large vessel into port as the other crew began lowering the gangplank. Of course, far be it from the Crane to not give an elaborate ceremony for something as common as this. So, the captain, a weathered Doji with short, white locks, walked forward and bowed deeply to both the Moto and Miya from her position on the boat.

"Doji Tsu, captain of the Sea's Pearl. It is with my greatest honor that I deliver upon you, Miya Hiruka, a month's worth of rice, grain, and other commodities in lesser quantities. Several samurai from across Rokugan and the many clans have come to offer their services to the expedition in hopes that all of the Empire can come to prosper from this endeavor."

Hiruka, used to the Crane's shenanigans, returned the bow, along with Mura. "I, Miya Hiruka, leader of the Sunseeker's Expedition, humbly accept this delivery in hopes that the goods and honorable samurai will help fulfil our duties swiftly so that we may move onto the next task set to us by the Emperor."

The Moto grunted in agreement. Tsu seemed pleased enough and motioned for the samurai to begin heading off of her ship. She had been a good captain, but even out on the seas, she demanded that decorum and propriety remained watched. Thankfully, it was only three days on a boat with her and her crew.

[Miya Akari]

Akari came down off the boat, having traveled back with reports and requests at Hiraku's request, and returning with this latest shipment. She approached the gathered people of importance and bowed offering some documents and letters of a personal nature for her boss, and a pouch with others for those already present on the island in the other hand.

"Hiruka-sama. I am pleased to be back," she says. "Moto-sama. A pleasure as always."

She then offers a bow to the captain. "Thank you for your assistance, Doji-sama."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Kenzo waited patiently for his turn to greet the expedition leaders and used that time to thank the Kami of earth for being so solid for while he had not been sick in the voyage he had never found his sea legs. Unwilling to shame himself with his first steps he willed his legs to not shake and approached expedition leaders when the time was right.

He bowed formally to the expedition leaders and with a shit eating grin he announced himself. "Miya-sama, Moto-sama, my name is Daidoji Kenzo and it is an honor to join your venture here. To explore new lands in the name of the Emperor is a great honor and I am eager to do my part. I hope you will find me useful."

[Agasha Chika]

Lurking toward the back of the line of new arrivals was a modest looking Dragon samurai-ko with rather extensive baggage for an otherwise unimpressive looking person. Clearly not an ascetic sort of Dragon.

When she reaches the dock and addresses the island's senior leaders, Agasha Chika is smiling like a child who's just been gifted a bag of candy. "Miya Hiruka-sama. Moto Mura-sama," she says, voice bright as she bows. The bow is noticeably less than is proper, though perhaps just because of her satchels and packs. "This one is Agasha Chika," she says as she straightens, revealing a smile like a cat would give to a caged bird. "As you know, of course. It is so lovely to be here to help your endeavors."

[Shiba Yukari]

Okay, the bad part's over now, right?

Yukari had never been on the sea before, and the experience had been terrifying and confusing in equal measure- but of course, she hadn't been allowed to, well... show it.

She donned her best smile- which really was quite a thing- and approached as her baggage got carried ashore.

Where the Dragon's smile had been predatory and the Crane's had been shit-eating, hers was warm, open, and friendly.

"Miya Hiruka-sama, Moto Mura-sama, I am Shiba Yukari, of the Tejina." She produced a copy of her orders from her obi and held them out. "I hope you might have some idea of why the Phoenix have sent me here, because I don't imagine that I'll be much help in exploring."

If perused, the orders were rather vague on that subject- they simply stated that she was to report to the island and "assist as you are best able."

She paused, to let them look it over, then bowed again.

"I am primarily an artist and entertainer, -samas, but I am not so foolish as to expect much in the way of... infrastructure to support those skills."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

Yingzi watched the interactions the other samurai had with the island's superiors with a keen eye. He was no investigator but it didn't take one to notice the proper decorum in some and then the small but clear snubs the others gave. Whatever he felt about it he didn't show it as he silently strode down the gangplank and in front of the Miya and Moto both. His bow was respectful but there was no smiles on his face. Like a good samurai he revealed no emotions.

"I am Shosuro Yingzi of the 41st Company, also known as the Company of Silver Tongues as a surprising amount of soldiers there have no small amount of talent to deescalate otherwise violent situations. My skills are those befitting a scout, bushi, and negotiator if it comes to such things. This makes me keenly adept for scouting missions into unknown territories. If we come across anyone or anything able to understand Rokugani I will be able to potentially talk them down without bloodshed." He looked to the forest and back to them.

"Given the likely highly spiritual nature of this island my superiors believed I would be of help." His voice was a chilling neutral throughout the entire thing. It was like someone had taken the Crane book of proper samurai etiquette and morphed it into the dangerous yet alluring personality of a Scorpion.

"It is an honor to be here and I look forward to working with most of the samurai here." The subtle glance he gave to the Agasha was the only indicator of who he had excluded.

[Ikoma Matisutou]

Matisutou, his small travel pack slung over one shoulder, descends the gangplank after bowing to the ship's master. No need to be rude at the moment, after all. And he follows the standard Lion practice, approaching the Miya and the Moto when his turn is clear, shrugging his bag to the ground, bowing low and sharply, and saying loudly but not impolitely so "Ikoma Matisutou, bushi of the Lion Clan, reporting as ordered!"

He straightens, withdraws a folded page from within his kimono. "My orders, Miya-sama," he says, presenting the paper.

His face is earnest, his form sure. He is, after all, a Lion.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

[Kitsune Asashi]

Asashi had mostly kept to himself during the voyage speaking to people as necessary but spending much of his time out of the way on the deck either watching the water during the day or watching the stars at night. The Fox had made a sort of hammock on the deck in an out of the way corner of the ship and had slept there more often than his room as he felt a bit cramped there.

As they arrived on the docks he gathered his simple belongings, everything he brought being contained in one simple sack. He bowed to the leaders of the expedition "This one is Kitsune Asashi, a Ranger of the Fox Clan." He distinguished himself from the shugenja his clan was known for. He had a soft but pleasant voice and a reserved smile as he straightened. "I hope to serve you both excellently."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

A Scorpion, a Daidoji, and a Ranger, Matisutou thinks. So much for quiet nights.

[Doji Hanatsuko]

With her fan at hand, Hanatsuko mind wonders. I wonder what whispers the wind will bring to this one

[Agasha Chika]

Kenzo flashed the Agasha a warm smile but remained silent, unsure if the expedition leaders would be addressing them as a group.

Chika notices the smile and returns it, though with the same sort of knowing look that the expedition leaders had gotten. It's on the warmer side, certainly, but perhaps still unnerving to come from a stranger.

[Koumori]

Both the Miya and the Moto look over the group of samurai, watching each of their introductions closely. Particularly close to the Agasha's public snub.

They bowed to the group one at a time before Hiruka finally spoke up.

"Thank you all for coming. The Emperor will be told of you and your clans participation. For now, enjoy the rest of your day in peace and both relax and get to know this place better. Tomorrow is when all of the work will begin and the chances for relaxation will be slimmer. As such, I will take up no more of your time. You are dismissed."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

Matisutou bows sharply, takes a step backward, turns on his heel smartly, and makes his /exit.
