(D4, MM, Event) Chopping Away

[Koumori]

Kaiu Kyo is standing at the edge of the forest today surrounded by well-worn axes and a few moving chains.

"Nothing much really to say today. Just need about three or four larger trees and we should have enough wood for a shrine to the married couple. As always, watch how far in you go."

Pretty simple. Can just RP out cutting down the trees, or watching, gathering other things nearby. That sort of deal.

[Shiba Yukari]

Yukari was... unhappy.

Mostly because they'd spent so much time blithering about Osano-Wo that she hadn't really gotten around to pointing out the driftwood would have been beautifully symbolic of the relationship between Suitengu and Isora.

And she for damned sure wasn't going to be swinging any axes- both because of her reservations, and because from a practical standpoint, if they waited for her to hew down a tree, they'd all die of old age.

Instead, she stood by to thank any trees selected before they came down, perhaps not quite as done-up as a shugenja might be, but doing her best to adjust to the heat.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Kenzo was relieved that his actions the day before were now sanctioned and he arrived ready and eager to begin. He bowed to the Crab.

"Good Morning Kyo-sama I hope the day finds you well. I wonder if your estimation includes the tree I felled yesterday? I don't want to take more from the island then we need." He picked up an axe and checked to make sure it was up to the task ahead.

He offered the Shiba a bow as well, trying to maintain an air of formality. "Yukari-san, here to bless our work?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"And to thank the trees selected. This forest already has its... doubts about us, according to Doji-san."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Indeed, but every tree we take will allow more of Lady Sun's radiance to reach the flowers and brush below the canopy. I hope there is some balance there."

[Doji Hanatsuko]

Another who wouldn't be cutting trees approached. She was here to gather flowers rather than to cut down what those inhabitants of the forest. "Such sad one... I am sorry for them..." Her heart was heavy but it didn't show. "Good morning.. all." Her basket ready for flower.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

The appearance of the other botanist caused Kenzo to shrink, feeling guiltier by the moment for what he was tasked to do and already had done.

"Good morning Hanatsuko-san." he said unable to meet her gaze. "I hope Inari has blessed you this day."

[Doji Hanatsuko]

"I have been blessed." Her voice was level not quite as sweet as always. "Daidoji san."

[Hiruma Heiko]

Heiko arrives and surveys the area with a look of resignation. She hefts the various axes before picking one and propping it effortlessly on a shoulder,
"Okay, Kaiu Kyo-sama, which one do you want to start with?"

After having a tree indicated, she sets to work with the look of someone who's done this before, and surprising strength for her small frame.

"You have more of an audience this morning, Daidoji-sama. Maybe we'll get lucky and be recorded for the historians," she comments with a brief glance at Hanatsuko.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

At the Hiruma's arrival Kenzo looked like a man who had just been saved from drowning.

"Ah good morning Heiko-san, I hope the day finds you well and please call me Kenzo-san."

He stepped aside so she could approach.

"Have the three of you met yet? Shiba Yukari, Doji Hanatsuko this is Hiruma Heiko. She has been out scouting the forest edge since we arrived."

[Hiruma Heiko]

Taking a pause from the chopping, Heiko looks over at the others,

"Yeah, I bumped into Doji-san at the docks yesterday, but haven't met Shiba-san yet. She nods her head as a perfunctory bow. "Mornin' all."

She grips the axe-haft firmly once more. "I shouldn't take us too long to get what we need with the two of us, though it would be even better if we had more help. Although it's lucky we're not building a palisade - that would take a few days with what we have available." Heiko looks over her shoulder, "Don't start getting any ideas, Kaiu-san!"

[Shiba Yukari]

"Pleased to meet you, Hiruma-san, but don't let me distract you from the task at hand. I expect there'll be plenty of time to talk later, hm?"

[Ikoma Matisutou]

Matistutou grunts affirmation to the Kuni's words and goes about searching for more of the strange orange fur from before...

[Hiruma Heiko]

"Hi Shiba-san. Are you also here to watch us at work?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"More to thank the trees selected, and to bless them. Given what this forest is capable of, some spiritual... assistance has been deemed prudent."

[Miya Akari]

Akari showed up a bit later, and began assisting with the cutting. She gave smiles to those she knew and a curious but pleasant look to the Hiruma.

She apparently knew what to do with an axe.

[Doji Hanatsuko]

Hanatsuko bowed to the Hiruma. She looked at Yukari and nodded. "I'll be gathering some flowers... I feel like making something special today."So she went her merry way to find some flowers.

[Koumori]

"Good Morning Kyo-sama I hope the day finds you well. I wonder if your estimation includes the tree I felled yesterday? ..."

"You what??"

Matistutou grunts affirmation to the Kuni's words and goes about searching for more of the strange orange fur from before...

He's unable to find any close, but further into the forest there looks to be something of interest around the trees... It would be taking him rather close to the invisible line that dictated the end of the 'Can still see the sea' band.

[Hiruma Heiko]

"Well, thank you for your work on our behalf with the kami, Shiba-san. I would not wish to be accosted by an unexpected spirit."

[OOC Akari, to whom does the 'she' refer to in this case? I can't tell which of the two female axe-wielders it is...]
