[D1 MM] The Lay of the Land (Open)

Inside the forest, yet close enough to still see the village and the ocean between the trees.

[D1 MM] The Lay of the Land (Open)

Post by Kitsune Asashi » Wed Sep 29, 2021 8:41 am

After throwing his stuff in his room the Kitsune started scouting out the wooded area around the village. He wore forest greens that blended well with the greenery and had his yumi strung on his back.

He wasn't attempting to sneak but he was moving carefully through the area keeping his eyes and ear alert and learning the layout of the woods. Identifying good climbing trees that gave a vantage and marking the paths that led deeper into the forest, that was an adventure for another time.

"Already preparing Kitsune-san? We have barely gotten off of the boat and here you are." Yingzi commented as he moved through the brush. His red attire made him stick out but his steps were still light and soft. "Looking for peace in a familiar place or do you wish to get a head start on helping the Emperor's Explorers?"

The red certainly stuck out and the Scorpion was quiet but Asashi was actively listening and mapping and man had a very different step than anything else in a forest. He wouldn't have caught the sound until the Scorpion was very near.

The Fox looked up and nodded to Yingzi "Yes." He replied simply at first before taking a small breath "first thing to do in an unfamiliar place is to learn it. Where to run, where to hide, which spots have the best view of the area. Especially with all these woods around need to get a good idea of what I am working with here."

"You believe you are going to have to run and hide here, Kitsune-san?" He asked in a deep, monotone voice with a face devoid of any emotion. His green eyes peered at the man before him. "I cannot say I blame you. There are many unknowns in these woods. Made worse by the fact that we cannot go into them without a large group."

He moved a bit closer to a tree and inspected it with empty eyes before looking back. "Have you found any good areas yet or has it been unsuccessful so far?"

The Ranger regarded him evenly "I have learned to expect the unexpected. I don't know if I or we will need to hide but I'd rather know the best spot in case we do."

The Fox then pointed to two trees not far from them and one maybe fifty yard away "these three offer good sight of the village with the least obstructions so far."

Then he shrugged "about as far as I've gotten so far."
