Not quite the same. GMPC tends to not be tied intrinsically into overarching plot. They participate in the story from the same angle as the PCs.

I am such a softy in real life, I feel so bad for Komyo. If it weren't for the rigid social structure my character would be all up in commands faces, full Karen mode.

xD Command would just make a sign on the inn door. Just reads 'Please don't feed the ronin. Feeding ronin creates artificially high populations that cannot be sustained by their natural habitat. They are wild creatures with natural diets and should not be made dependent on handouts."
