Good lord. I really am piss poor at making characters aren't I because I don't have anything like that dice pool must be for you.

I personally wouldn't say that. It's just that unfortunately 4e realllllly makes it both easy and more rewarding to be hyper-focused and min-maxed into a few things, especially if you bring Ancestors and Inheritance into the mix. However, playing a character that's generalized with lower pools isn't bad either, and doesn't reflect poorly on character creation skills.

This is true. It makes a person stand out if they are hyper focused. And then they can avoid doing things that they are bad at. Not unlike real life. An excellent dancer doesn't go around woodworking or practicing archery if they never did so and aren't interested. And then there are people that seem like they can do anything passably, but that is their "focus" the ability to do anything anytime.
